Un llamado a la comunidad a cuidar y acompañar a sus adultos mayores en sus diferentes trámites en el Hospital San Camilo, hizo la dirección del establecimiento asistencial sanfelipeño, tras detectar que una persona de la tercera edad fue víctima de robó de dinero con el famoso “cuento del tío”. La situación ocurrió en circunstancias que la esposa de la víctima, que se desplaza en silla de ruedas, estaba siendo atendida en la toma de muestras y él la esperaba afuera, oportunidad en que fue abordado por una persona bien vestida que le ofreció ayuda para sus trámites, contándole el cuento del tío que le permitió llevarlo hasta las escaleras donde le pidió que le entregara sus documentos, billetera y su gorro para subir a gestionar sus asuntos, pues él no podía subir con nada de valor.
El problema es que obviamente el sujeto era un timador que subió por las escaleras y nunca volvió, ya que el establecimiento tiene ascensores y escaleras en ambos lados del edificio, por lo que el delincuente arrancó pro el otro lado, no sin antes tirar el gorro por la ventana, tal como lo corroboraron las cámaras de seguridad.
“Nuestro recinto es muy amplio y abierto a la comunidad, lo que tiene beneficios, pero también problemas como este, en donde es imposible detectar si todas las cientos de personas que nos visitan están bien o mal acompañadas, por lo que difundimos esta noticia para alertar a las familias a que acompañen a sus adultos mayores”, aseguró Susan Porras, Directora de la institución, tras ver las imágenes en donde se ve a la víctima caminando amigablemente con alguien que perfectamente podía ser su hijo.
Pero el llamado no es solo por seguridad, sino porque también es frecuente que el personal se encuentre con adultos mayores solos que no logran comprender bien las indicaciones médicas, los horarios de los remedios, o los trámites a realizar para seguir con su tratamiento, lo que redunda en horas perdidas o lo que es peor, tratamientos médicos que no generen el efecto esperado por seguir mal las indicaciones.
“Nuestro consejo es que siempre vengan acompañados y además se fijen bien en las personas que los abordan y piden cosas, ya que nuestros funcionarios cuentan con credencial de identificación, la mayoría usa uniformes y además, jamás le solicitarán dinero por hacer trámites ni menos las billeteras ni sus pertenencias en los pasillos, así que frente a la duda, siempre será mejor acercarse a los guardias o a los funcionarios que están tras mesones de atención para consultar si el procedimiento es el correcto”, recalcó la autoridad.
